It’s basically organized in four different section and all progressive 1-Learn Single Note 2-Learn Chords 3-The “Solo” (combine single note and chords) 4-The “Duet”. Has been specifically designed to accomplish two things: 1-Learn how to read music. 2-Develop the coordination between left and right hand.
CHORDS & SCALES FOR GUITAR: Blake Neely. Basic Guitar Chord Theory-1400 guitar chords-Basic scale and mode-Patterns. I don’t really use this book during the lesson, but I’ve to say that is good to have a summary of chords and voicing and modes and music theory and scales. I call it “The Bible”.
SPEED MECHANICS FOR LEAD GUITAR: Troy Stetina. I’ve to say that, despite the name, this book is one of the most creative book ever made.Teaches what every serious lead player should know: Mechanical Ability, Rhythm Ability and Creativity. It takes time and discipline. Once you got it on your music stand approach it with patience. You can not rush.
MEL BAY’S CLASSIC BLUES LICKS FOR ELECTRIC GUITAR: Fres Sokolow. This book is all about Blues Licks. What I like the most is the way it’s organized by starting with one position, through the connection between two “Blues Box”, double note, turnarounds. It contains the vocabulary you need in order to speak the Blues language. You will like it.
101 BAD TO THE BONE BLUES GUITAR RHYTHM PATTERNS: Larry McCabe. Here we are talking about Blues vocabulary. 101 blues lick perfectly organized in Dominant, Minor and Vamp Patterns. Larry McCabe loves num.101. He definitely made a signature for his books. And he published a lot.
MASTER OF RHYTHM GUITAR: Joachim Vogel: This book is Awesome.There is nothing more to say. Just imagine to take all the best rhythm guitar player in the history and have a summary of they best rhythm chops. Everything played in great style and with the same sound. ACOUSTIC ROCK: Hal Leonard. Is time to play some songs.This book is absolutely well organized. Both notation and tab through 8 PopRock songs. You will develop a good strumming and chords changing. Not for beginners. Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Goo Goo Dolls, Guns n Roses and more. Students Love it. Every single details has been written in the stuff. Well done Hal.
FINGERPICKING POP 15 SONGS: Hal Leonard. Another book with great songs. Almost ballads with Tab and Chords. This book is not for beginner as goes straight to the point. Play songs!! Now if you want to use this book you really need a good fingerpicking. It will definitely improve more by using this book and you will have good material to show off.
